We have had three outings during the summer. In May we had a most interesting farm walk with Robin Dale at his farm at Bourton on the Hill, when he told us about the farm, the wildlife and local history (including during World War II). These walks are free of charge because Mr. Dale is part of an organisation which promotes conservation of the countryside.
In June we met at Sankey Marine in Evesham, where we had a boat trip for one hour, seeing Evesham from the river, after which we returned to the marina for an excellent barbecue, which we enjoyed in their attractive conservatory on a chilly evening!
In July we went on a very interesting walking tour of Alcester with an official guide. The town has much history and interesting buildings, finishing with tea and cakes at the Holly Bush hotel.
We now have our winter programme, which will include talks on the Okavanga Delta, Argentina, Jersey, the Panama Canal, Holland, and “Round the World in the Middle of the last Century”. New members are welcome.
