It’s amazing to think that the Learning Spanish group has now been going for three years. We have some beginners, but those of us who were in at the beginning were starting to feel that we had plateaued – we knew it all in theory but were desperately short of vocabulary and just didn’t get round to talking Spanish.
What we have been doing, however, is to write a story about the adventures of Ron and Cynthia - a British couple who decide to set up home in Andalucia. We take it in turns to add a paragraph and thanks to some very lively imagination on the part of one or two members of our group, they seem to be getting themselves into some extraordinary scrapes – we look forward to another thrilling instalment next month!
Now, as an experiment, we have invited Veronica Shaw, who is a fluent Spanish speaker, to join us once a month to correct our mistakes and try to get us talking. Veronica is very vivacious and we are already beginning to see the benefit of her attentions, so who knows what Ron and Cynthia will get up to next.
