Evesham and District U3A was started six and a half years ago and has grown to more than 500 members. We have over 40 "interest" groups with activities ranging from physical ones including walking and dancing through crafts and music to the academic ones such as language learning and history. (See Latest News for proposed new groups.) We hold a public meeting at the Public Hall inside the Riverside Shopping Centre, Evesham on the first Thursday of each month at 2 o'clock Please click on the links at the left hand side of this page to find more of what we do. The University of the Third Age (U3A for short) is a movement developed by French Universities about 25 years ago to provide education for the retired population. In the UK, the French model has been adapted somewhat, and provides both education and companionship for older people by forming U3A groups here. There are no qualifications of any sort whatsoever required for membership. The U3A is a self-help organisation which offers opportunities to learn from each other. Everyone is able to contribute their own particular skill, knowledge and experience. Members are invited to volunteer to give talks, act as coordinators or generally help in the running of their own group, or just to participate as a group members.
